Happy Wildwood Wednesday! Welcome back to another special preview of our upcoming Kickstarter campaign rewards. In case you missed it, last week we showcased the physical rewards bundle, featuring a 10” Krampy plush and the 2-disc soundtrack set. Read all about it here!
Today, we’re talking about early access! By backing our campaign on Kickstarter, you can secure your spot in our closed alpha or beta testing phases. Be one of the very first to set foot in the Wildwood and get a front-row seat to the development process by watching the game come to life over time. Early access keys will be offered via Steam and available for Windows and Mac in English only.
The alpha testing phase is a critical part of any game’s journey. In this very early period, features are implemented, bugs are squashed, and feedback can be readily taken into account to help shape the final gameplay experience. Our current plan is for our closed alpha phase to begin in the summer of 2022.
During the beta testing phase, a game is mostly feature-complete but some mechanics may need more testing and development time to provide additional content and polish. Beta testers can expect a near-complete experience and help us track down and eliminate any pesky lingering technical issues or identify areas where content needs to be expanded prior to final release. The current plan is for our beta testing phase to begin sometime in early 2023.
If you are a content creator or member of the press, we want to let you know that our early access testing periods will not be under an NDA or similar agreement. You will be more than welcome to share your experiences with your audience and discuss with others. We are striving to have an open and honest development process in which the community can remain engaged and involved.
After the beta testing period has concluded, we’ll review our release candidate build internally and prepare for the launch of the full game. Currently, we are planning for the game to be made publicly available in Q4 2023 on Steam (Windows, Mac) and Q4 2024 on Nintendo Switch™. We’ll be sure to keep in touch and let everybody know how development is proceeding. When the full game launches on each platform, all standard and deluxe edition backers who did not back for early access will be granted their download keys.
